I blitzed the last stretch. All of the races and their relevant gods are entered. The languages for each race have been entered and formatted (except for humans because…why would I do that when its already 99% english). The hyperlinks are done.
I had ChatGPT create new images for several of the gods, namely the orc and serpent gods as several of the orc gods looked more like elves and the serpent gods were just humans with a snake body for legs. I did also redo Pekeana (she used to be a dude!)
Unfortunately, the word document’s custom fonts for the languages was embedded and irretrievable, and I’ve since wiped my computer. I had to recreate the scripts based on the word doc and other images and they…could be better. I’ll go back and improve them some day, but for now I am content with them. ChatGPT was able to do a lot of the heavy lifting when formatting the alphabets and dictionaries so that they were readable in the MediaWiki format. There is no way I’m hand-formatting 12,000 individual words. I do need to check on what version the languages are – the gods, holy texts, and several city and people names were pulled from the languages, but a few others I had just swapped out the word in that language to be what was convenient for me.
ChatGPT came up with a python script to add hyperlinks to all articles. It took some trial and error, and you’ll find a bunch of articles with the same reference linked over and over when its supposed to just be the first occurrence. A few others also just didn’t format properly (like the first purge for some reason).
Retyping everything has definitely hollowed out the world – each entry has less “stuff.” That might be a good thing for now, as the wording and extra fluff that I removed took away from the descriptions and explanations (to me, at least). It just means I have more space to expand each article as I continue to add lore and cross-references, though.
ChatGPT formatting the dictionaries and basically automating the reference hyperlinking not only put me way ahead of creating new lore in September, I beat out transferring the lore from the word doc to the wiki by a week! And no, chatGPT didn’t write any of the actual text or lore – just the behind the scenes programming/formatting and the images. I guess that means I can start creating lore a lot sooner, but I might take a break for now – I have a trip coming up in about a week and it’d be nice to rest for it. But we’ll see, I might get bored and starting adding new lore for the first time in over a year.
