Shadowpoint venom is extracted from a small snake found in the Snakevalley Islands. These snakes eventually found themselves in Ardred, and alchemists in Pirtair discovered the effect magic had on its venom. Shadowpoint venom sends the user straight into their dreams, which may be pleasant or a complete nightmare. While the user (or more often victim) is dreaming, their entire body goes completely rigid. Some have reported being aware of this and feeling trapped in their own mind.

Nearly every nation has banned shadowpoint venom, but thanks to Pirtair it has become common as a recreational drug and a poison. In the Serpent Theocracy, its treated as if it were gold and guarded closely by the priests, who believe the dreams may have prophetic powers.
