The mages here are known as iceweavers, learning how to use magic to conjure ice walls and send icicles into their enemies as experimental weapons for further expeditions and defense.

The most recurring rumor around Frosthold is that it's not just a starting point for future expeditions but that its the first line of defense against something beyond the snow - something that the Archminister is hoping to find before it finds Elori.
