I've seen things that no one should witness. Entire villages reduced to ash in the blink of an eye. Comrades, brave warriors, torn apart as if they were nothing more than parchment in the wind. The stench of death clings to everything - our clothes, our skin, our very souls.
My hands won't stop shaking, Mother. Even as I write this, I can feel the tremors. I wake up in the middle of the night gasping for air, convinced I'm choking on the ashes of the fallen. The sound of crackling fire sends me into a panic - all I can see are the burning bodies of my friends, their screams echoing in my ears.

Last week, a child in the refugee camp laughed. It was an innocent sound but all I could hear was the cackle of the goblins as they tore through our lines. I found myself reaching for my sword before I realized what I was doing. The shame of it eats at me, Mother. What kind of monster have I become?

I can't eat. The smell of cooked meat turns my stomach - it's too similar to the scent of burning flesh that lingers on every battlefield. Water tastes like blood. I look down at my hands and all I can see is the gore of fallen comrades, no matter how many times I wash them.

There are moments when I think I can't go on. When the weight of it all becomes too much to bear. I find myself longing for the simplicity of our little farm, for the scent of your freshly baked bread, for the sound of Father's laughter echoing across the fields.
