The fourth purge came in 690:Leviathan, just under 400 years after the last one. Goblins swarmed everywhere and dragons cast their shadows over the land. Only this time, goblins rode the dragons and made it to harder to reach lands like the Snakevalley Islands.
Humans unfurled their banners, orcs pounded on their war drums, elves set up magical barriers, dwarves churned out gear, ratori maintained supply lines, and even the serpents were now involved, providing their camouflage magic for ambushes against unsuspecting raiding parties. The battles were on a scale never seen before, humans clashing steel and orcs tearing through enemy lines. Serpents struck from the flanks and elves rained arrows while the dwarves maintained their shield wall and pikes.
Victory was within reach, then came a betrayal in the form of words. Rumors spread that the Serpent Theocracy was planning to strike the other nations while their armies were away and their lands weakened. The trust that was built with the serpents was broken almost overnight, though no evidence was found proving that they planned any such actions. The fourth purge ended, but instead of bringing the serpents into the international community, it only caused them to further isolate and harden their hearts.
