The Contact Expedition

In 381:Conquest, Elori sent out an expedition to better map the western half of Tuyin. The expedition was only lightly armed, with most members armed with little more than quills and sketchbooks. The expedition party spent years wandering through outdated maps and uncharted lands, documenting every flower and creature that they could find.

Near the half-way point of their expedition, they spotted a large amount of smoke in the distance. Eventually, they stumbled upon a large, developed human civilization. Most human kingdoms only lasted a century or two before collapsing or being conquered, and this kingdom was evidently much more advanced. The discovery was completely unexpected, especially given that there had been little word from the human kingdoms in roughly 80 years. The elves had discovered Alkland.

The elves, shocked and surprised, chose not to investigate further and began their return trip to Rivelgin. In 385:Conquest, they burst into the council chambers, interrupting a scheduled meeting. They immediately reported their findings. The Archminister was impressed, and instructed the council to begin planning diplomatic missions to the young Alkland.

The humans of Alkland were not too keen on being discovered, especially by a race of non-humans. A guard had spotted the elves, and soon Alkland sent spies to follow them back to Elori. Feeling threatened by the advanced and populated Elori, the spies returned and Alkland marshaled its army and launched a surprise invasion of Elori. Within a year, the age of Conquest had come to a close and the age of Discord began with the Knife-Ear War.
