Satsakotwel is the serpent goddess of pests and pestilence. At first glance, this goddess may seem to be about destruction and decay, but there is more pests and pestilence than just ruin. Satsakotwel is about the balance and cycle of life and death and teaches that it is necessary to continue life in the world.

Serpent rituals for Satsakotwel involve gathering pests and insects to burn as offering, attempting to acknowledge Satsakotwel's power and stay on her good side.

The temples dedicated to Sataskotwel are somber and decorated with symbols of decay and renewal. Her priests chant about life's impermanence and the inevitable march of time. They hold the Plague Feast, in which more sacrifices are offered than just insects and small animals.
