Orichalcum

Orichalcum is a magical orange-colored ore - not quite gold, but not quite red either. It is incredibly resistant to wear and rust. It has an innate connection to the Essence Weave, with some speculating it originated from that dimension in the primordial world. Elves use it frequently in their staffs, wands, and other magical trinkets. Due to its magical properties, forging it requires a healthy respect and carefulness around the ore as it could behave unexpectedly and throw molten metal into the smith's face. The ore is incredibly rare, and it is generally only extracted from the base of mountains or the bottom of shallow seas. Entire expeditions have been lost searching in these places.
