Alkelf is the capital of Alkland. Massive walls enclose a sprawling landscape inside. Alkelf is a solidly human city and harsh discrimination is found on every block. The city is split up into districts with severe segregation. The center of the city contains the supreme monarch's castle, large estates for the nobles and generals, and statues in every square. Outside of the center is the trade and administration districts filled with busy markets and government buildings. The non-humans, primarily dwarves and ratori, live on the outskirts of these districts where it's almost a completely different city. In the outskirts, the homes are older and run down along narrow streets riddled with potholes that will never be fixed. Most of the inhabitants here are hard laborers or servants and the citizens of Alkland tolerate their presence in exchange for such services. Alkelf has renowned educational institutes but they are almost exclusively restricted to humans only. Non-human children either remain uneducated or simply learn within their poor communities by those willing to spend what little free time they have teaching.
